I. PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS
To demonstrate a love for God and for people while providing spiritual, ministerial, missional, and administrative leadership to the Church, proclaiming God’s Word, and providing pastoral care for church and community members.
II. PERSONAL COMMITMENT
A. Maintain a personal daily walk with the Lord Jesus Christ through prayer, worship, and study of God’s word for direction and wisdom.
B. Meet family needs by including one full day a week for rest and recreation.
C. Devote sufficient time getting to know the congregation and the community to discern the needs and opportunities of service.
III. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Proclaim God’s Word through preaching and teaching in worship services and Bible studies and lead the church in proclaiming God’s Word to the church, to the community, and to the world.
B. Demonstrate care for church membership through appropriate means such as visitation, card writing, phone calls, etc. and equip church staff, deacon body and the church members to reach out to one another along with church visitors or prospects for membership.
C. Model a lifestyle of missions involvement and provide for the equipping of the church membership for involvement in missions opportunities locally, as well as nationally and internationally.
D. Share the gospel with the lost and lead the church to share the gospel and to reachout to un-churched people.
E. Plan, coordinate, lead, and evaluate the church services of worship, including observance of church ordinances.
F. Provide counseling to church or community members, as appropriate.
G. Communicate regularly with deacon body, appropriate committees/teams and church as a whole to relate ongoing ministries, opportunities, and challenges.
H. Lead, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the church staff in coordination with the church’s Personnel Committee and church-approved policies.
I. Direct the development of and coordinate the administration of the annual budget and the business affairs of the church in consultation with the Budget and Finance Committee and the Financial Secretary.
J. Coordinate the planning of the church calendar with staff and church council.
K. Cooperate with associational, state-, and national-level conventions and organizations in programs or matters of mutual interest with the church.
L. Preside as moderator of church business meetings and manage and oversee the records of all business affairs, committee minutes, educational records and church business meeting minutes.
M. Serve as non-voting/ex-officio member of all church committees and teams.
N. Support and execute church policies and applicable state and federal laws including adherence to personnel policies as printed in the Personnel Policy Manual.
O. Perform any additional duties as directed by church authority per the bylaws.
IV. REQUIREMENTS
A. Be reasonably available nights/weekends for involvement in church ministries or pastoral care opportunities.
B. Ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
C. Requires Bachelor’s degree. Seminary degree or religious studies preferred.
D. Prefer license and/or ordination from and experience serving in a Baptist Church.
E. Must pass criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks.
